CHIEF PETTY OFFICER GALEN TYROL

Chief Petty Officer of Battlestar Galactica. Rugged, with the worn look of someone who has spent a lifetime working around big machines, he's the kind of man for whom his crew would do anything.

His deck crew is responsible for restoring Commander Adama’s old viper from the first Cylon war. Tyrol admires Commander Adama and was indispensable to him during the Cylon attack.

Tyrol is fiercely loyal. He is a natural leader who is very much in tune with his crew. He believes in the rule of military law and tradition, while admiring the qualities of honesty, hard work, common sense, intelligence and integrity. Despite his strong work ethic, he will give people the room to make mistakes, as he puts it, "If you don't fall down, you are not trying hard enough."

Tyrol has a secret relationship with the young Raptor pilot Boomer.
