DOCTOR WHO's Epic Win in Ratings

Pix Princss | 6/8/2010 12:09:22 PM

You were watching Doctor Who last weekend weren’t you? Because this past Saturday, more viewers prescribed to DOCTOR WHO than any other program in its time slot on Canadian television. Nearly 400,000 viewers clocked in at 9 p.m. ET for SPACE’s signature series, beating out competing Canadian conventional and specialty networks. W00t!

This is a big, awesome deal for us – we are thrilled that so many of you are loving the new Doctor. In the upcoming episode of DOCTOR WHO, “The Hungry Earth” it's 2020 and the most ambitious drilling project in history has reached deeper beneath the Earth's crust than man has ever gone before – but now the ground itself is fighting back. The Doctor, Amy and Rory arrive in a tiny mining village and find themselves plunged into a battle against a deadly danger from a bygone age. Episode 8 premieres Saturday, June 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

We like to engage in Timelord Talk in the SPACE offices, and as you might know, Teddy and Ajay have a theory about The Crack that has been following Amy and The Doctor around space and time. They theorize that The Doctor created a crack by going back into his own timeline, thus creating two doctors in the timeline. What do you think of this theory?

With only six episodes of DOCTOR WHO remaining, fans can celebrate the season finale of this critical and ratings hit with an INNERSPACE live-to-air special Saturday, July 24 at 10 p.m. ET. From SPACE headquarters at 299 Queen St. W in Toronto, hosts Ajay Fry and Teddy Wilson cap off the season finale in front of a live studio audience. More details about this live-to-air special are to be announced, including guest panelists and live web chats.

It may be a matter of opinion. If you are not into any Sci-Fi than the Doctor is not a show you should be watching.I presonaly love this whole series.

Doctor Who would look so much better in HD as would all of your other shows like SGU and Eureka. You run the trailers in HD on the main CTV network. All this does is demonstrate how much better they could be. This years old statement about HD copied from your faq page is clearly dishonest. The future is here and still no Space HD. Shame on CTV for their locking up the rights to these shows and thus depriving fans of the HD experience. Q: When is SPACE going to go High Definition? A: We know all too well how amazing our programming would look on high-def, and as such we are definitely looking into HD for the future. We don’t have an immediate timeline yet, but trust us, when we do - you’ll be the first to know!

Doctor Who is the worst show that I've ever seen. I can't possibly imagine what would bring a person to force themselves through that complete and utter garbage put to film. British SciFi should stay in Britain.

I totally feel the same way, the UK (where Dr. Who started) can't do science fiction. I can't even stand watching the Doctor Who trailers, very lame series.

BBC lost footage from many of the early Dr. Who episodes.

I'm also enjoying the reruns of Doctor Who: Series 1-4, but I'm wondering about the 3 Christmas Specials that David Tennant also did for Doctor Who in Series 2-4. The first one was his first full appearance which takes place between Series 1 and 2. Is SPACE not showing these specials in order of appearance? Reason I ask is the 2nd special also introduces Donna Tate who appears in Series 4.

No they aren't. Its a retarded show they're using as filler because there isn't any real Scifi tv to show right now.
