Make Room for Being Human

For all the fans who missed the BBC’s supernatural drama series Being Human, you’re going to be able to watch it all from the very beginning coming this August! The series has your basic sit-com premise, three twenty-something roommates (sounds like my life) trying to make their way in the modern town of Totterdown, Bristol… despite the fact that one is a vampire, one is a werewolf and one is a ghost.
Now, I’ll try and avoid spoilers for everyone who’s missed out on the series, because it is a pretty fantastic piece of work that was nominated for a 2010 BAFTA award – Best Drama to be specific. Season one and two have already been aired in the UK and season three is currently being filmed, to air in 2011.
You’d think with a premise like this the story would be pretty funny, but it’s actually fairly dark and very thrilling. It stars Aidan Turner (the vampire), Russell Tovey (the werewolf) and Lenora Crichlow (the ghost) as they work together to… well, live their lives (or unlives as the case may be). Series one originally aired back in January 2009 and has been going strong ever since as season two wrapped up in February 2010. So if you think it’s going to be as much of a blast as it is, you should totally check it out. It has a lot of new ideas and twists on your classic horror-characters and puts them in an environment where you normally don’t see them, so be ready for some original, awesome new stuff!
Oh, and if you’re sold on the UK’s version, you can check out the American remake that’s being filmed at the moment, which will star Sam Witwer (you may know him from Smallville and Battlestar Galactica) as the vampire, Meaghan Rath (from The Assistants) as the ghost, and Sam Huntington (Superman Returns) as the werewolf.
The Original Series from the BBC starts Monday, August 23 at 9et! We’ll be airing all of season one, six episodes total, for that entire week. Same time, same place, all week. Be sure to watch!
