In the late 24th century, a renegade group known as the Maquis operate outside the law to right what they see as Federation injustices. After infiltrating a Maquis cell to apprise Starfleet of the group's activities, Lieutenant Tuvok, along with the crew of a ship commanded by the Maquis captain Chakotay, disappear in an area of space known as the Badlands. Tuvok's commanding officer, Captain Janeway, leads a mission to find the Vulcan lieutenant, enlisting the aid of Starfleet prisoner Tom Paris, a former Maquis member, to guide her ship, The USS Voyager, through the Badlands.
While in the Badlands the crew of the Voyager and the Maquis vessel are both thrown into a Vortex that takes them to the Delta Quadrant, 70,000 light years away from Earth. In the Delta Quandrant they discover an alien called the Caretaker was responsible for their abrupt transportation. The Caretaker and it's transportation device, the array, are both destroyed so Janeway and her Voyager crew along with several members of the Maquis and some new alien friends must make the long journey back home, to Earth. Along the way Janeway and crew still find time to do what Federation vessels do best: "explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no one has gone before.". Star Trek:Voyager was created by Rick Berman, Michael Piller, and Jeri Taylor. StarTrek was created by Gene Roddenberry.
