Watchmen Haiku
Mark Askwith | 6/16/2009 10:13:11 AM
A few months ago I was asked to write short descriptions for each of the chapters of the Watchmen Motion Comics, as SPACE is airing two episodes every Tuesday evening at 10 pm ET. As I wrote the episode blurbs, I remembered how little plot is actually in each chapter of Watchmen. Watchmen is more about the poetry, and the little grace notes that happen along the way. With that in mind, I humbly present: Watchmen Haiku (apologies to Moore, Gibbons, and Basho).

Dave Gibbons acted as a consultant on the Watchmen movie, and not only did he offer his script suggestions, draw a promotional poster, and visit the set, he participated in the press junkets. All his work seems to have paid off, because since it was released in March of 2009, the Watchmen movie has grossed over 100 million dollars in North America, and over 75 million overseas. In part three of this interview, Dave Gibbons chats about the impact the movie has had on him, and on the sales of the Watchmen graphic novel.

In part two of the interview Dave Gibbons discusses Zack Snyder, narrator Tom Stechschulte, and the possible future of the Motion Comic form. WATCH NOW
