In honour of the web series, Riese:Kingdom Falling, currently running on SPACECAST.com, we've been delving into all things Steampunk, that sexy/prim, sepia-toned, Victorian-meets-old-time-technology genre.

Once a sub-genre of science fiction, the aesthetic is gaining followers and momentum. I tracked down the fabulous Countessa Leonora, aka Lee Ann Farruga, the founder of Steampunk Canada  and co-founder of Steampunk Ottawa to talk about the movement's rising popularity.

Over a Skype connection in her Ottawa home, she gave us a little history of the Steampunk movement and aesthetic, and offered some guidance on how to get involved in Steampunk in Canada.

Last year, Lee Ann had the chance to meet the people behind the Steampunk-inspired web series, Riese, and instantly connected with material. (Lee Ann's favourite character is Herrick, but this is not meant as a slight to the princess. I only let her choose one).

Check in to SPACECAST.COM tomorrow morning for part 8, "Indoctrination". Lee Ann mentions the Canadian Steampunk Exhibition this April/May. Check out the details at CNSE.ca
