New Season of DOCTOR WHO hits SPACE Saturday, April 23, 8E/P

This just in! The new Season of DOCTOR WHO will be coming to SPACE SATURDAY APRIL 23 at 8E/P. We're thrilled to be airing a new season of heart-pounding adventures, with Matt Smith  as 11th Timelord and Karen Gillan as his feisty partner-in-time, Amy Pond.

In the 2-part season premiere, The Doctor, Amy and Rory travel to 1960s America, taking them from the Utah desert to the Oval office. The season was filmed in North America for the first time in series history.  Alex Kingston (ER) reprises her role as River Song, while Mark Sheppard (SUPERNATURAL) guest stars as Canton.

If you need to catch up on Season 5, and if you want to relive the golden specials, fear not! SPACE is airing a thrilling DOCTOR WHO marathon: Beginning Thursday, April 21 at 9 a.m. E/P, SPACE transports viewers to a TARDIS manned by Tenth Time Lord with the 4 final DOCTOR WHO specials, starring David Tennant. Then SPACE reboots Season 5 leading up to the Season 6 premiere on April 23, followed by the Christmas specials, Sunday, April 24 starting at 12:05 a.m. ET.

  • SPACE does not normally comment on rumours, but for the record, all this talk of two Doctor Who episodes over Easter weekend are just that- unfounded rumours. Wishful thinking perhaps! m.

  • Canada has had the Dr. Who series since I was very young, and yes I am a very very strong fan. I just didn't like the last Dr. change.

  • Why did they change the doctor? Was there something wrong with David Tennent? I think just from what I have seen of the New Doctor he is not as attractive and David just seemed to have the most fun ever, he truly enjoyed the part. I hope he is not ill. I don't know if I will be able to get used to the new guy, too young, too tall, tooo thin. I give up, just when you start really getting into a good show with fun they change the characters.

  • I heard rumours that BBC was premiering the first two episodes Easter weekend (the 23-24). Does anyone know if this is true and if space will be doing the same as the release schedule does not look like they will?

  • So glad to see the 6th series on Space and not that long after BBC 1 broadcasts it in the UK - remember when we had to wait months to get episodes on TVO? To those old enough to remember those early Tom Baker days - the series has come a long way and it's just as relevant and exciting as it was those days...the special effects budget is just higher! (Woo!)

  • As Alex Kingston’s character River Song would say probably say "we better hold on to something". This new season already seems like it’s going to be a wild ride from the get go, and with it being shot in America it will be nice to see if there are any big difference to the feel it usually gives. Hear is hoping for the best and to all the cast and crew keep up the good work.

  • Thank-you SPACE very much for bringing us this terrific series and keeping us up to date with the rest of the world with new episodes. For the first time EVER I won't have to work hard to avoid spoilers for a few weeks or even a number of months (as was the case a few years back, though that was another network). Now how about some classic series episodes too? Doug G. Oshawa On.
