FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
GENERAL
Q: When is SPACE going to go High Definition?
A: We know all too well how amazing our programming would look on high-def, and as such we are definitely looking into HD for the future. We don’t have an immediate timeline yet, but trust us, when we do - you’ll be the first to know!
Q: Why is the volume so different between the programs and the commercials?
A: Please contact your local cable provider to report this discrepancy. You can also visit this site for more information about sound levels and what we’re doing about it.
Q: What is the name of the music you use in [insert title here] promo?
A: All of our production music is licensed from a stock music library; or it is created for us by local music production studios. Unfortunately, this means that the track you like isn’t available for consumer use. But luckily for you, some of our promos are available for your viewing pleasure online here, so you can watch (and listen) to your heart’s content.
Q: Sometimes when I watch your programs there is a voice describing what’s happening on the screen. What is that?
A: It’s a feature called described video, which makes it possible for those who are visually impaired to enjoy our programming. You can turn it on or off by adjusting the settings on your television or cable box – the same way you would turn on or off your closed captioning.
Q: Does SPACE edit or cut its programming?
A: We do our best not to cut any content out of our programming. However, we do have to put in breaks for commercials, as well as create edited daytime versions of certain movies or programs in order to comply with daytime content regulations.
Q: Why don’t you have my favourite show available on your videoplayer?
A: Unfortunately, SPACE does not have the rights to stream every show that we broadcast. The good news is that our video library is growing every month. Check out watch.spacecast.com
Q: Last week I was able to watch an episode of a show on your videoplayer, but now it is gone. Where did it go?
A: Each show has a different window of time that we are contractually allowed to stream it online. Sometimes it stays up for seven days, other times for longer. When content reaches its expiration date, it is removed from the library.
