Vicki Nelson, tall, blonde and attractive, has never been what one might call “easygoing”.
Her often-abrasive personality and wicked, sometimes sarcastic sense of humor carried her through to an impressive career at the Metropolitan Police Service.
The only man who stepped up to the challenge of Vicki Nelson was her partner, Mike Celluci. When her vision began to fail she stepped back from her profession and her relationship with Celluci. It wasn’t until they ran into each other again that she realized she wouldn’t be able to shut him out of her life forever - he not only loves her, he understands her…even when she doesn’t.
Vicki’s attraction to Henry Fitzroy is a whole other animal. Henry, with his incredible power and his smooth-as-silk style, represents a window into a new world of mystery and intrigue. This gives her a sense of purpose – and way down deep, a sense of hope that her growing blindness might have a cure.
Although Vicki is attracted to Fitzroy, she’ll always harbor a deep-seated fear of his vampirism – a hard-wired human response. Even at the moment when she seems to be dying, when her only chance of living is to allow Henry to turn her, Vicki will refuse…even if it means risking death.
Despite her abrasive attitude, Vicki is not cynical. Underneath it all, she’s a vital woman, looking to solve puzzles and understand her world. As much as she might sometimes want to think she’s got it all under control, there’s always a fresh nightmare lurking in the wings to shake her grasp on reality.
