1-4 Diving In
Kyle has his first dream. He is swimming in a swimming pool with Amanda. The next morning Detective Breen is at the house questioning Kyle why he drew the symbol on the key card with his drawings. Nicole still thinks Kyle has amnesia based trauma. Kyle, Lori and Josh all head out to the swimming pool while the parents try to enroll Kyle in high school.
The guy in the red truck’s name is Thomas Foss. He worked for the same company that has the key card symbol Kyle drew. Kern is still missing. A company employee discharges him from the company, he’s worked there for the past 10 years.
At the swimming pool Amanda is a lifeguard. Hillary meets Lori there and she is still ignoring Declan. Jeff Preston is having a big party on Friday. Hillary still has a crush on Kyle. Josh wants Lori to get the phone number of a girl he saw at the pool.
At the high school Stephen and Nicole have difficulty enrolling Kyle in high school. While Josh and Lori argue at the pool Kyle tries to swim and sinks. Amanda rescues him and Kyle gets embarrassed when everyone is laughing at him because he had an erection without him knowing. Stephen later explains what this is to him.
At the house Declan comes to visit Lori and asks her out to Jeff Preston’s party. She agrees to go with him. Josh gives Kyle a porno magazine. Amanda comes by to visit Kyle and goes into his room and sees all the drawings of her. Kyle then walks into his room with the porno magazine and Amanda seems freaked out by the drawings and the magazine and runs out. Later on Josh and Lori help each other out. Josh convinces his mom to let Kyle take swimming lessons which gives Lori some free time and she has to get the phone number from the girl at the pool.
At the pool Kyle begins swim lessons with Amanda. Lori gets the girls number for Josh, her name is Ashleigh. While walking away from the pool with Hillary, Lori thinks it is time to have sex with Declan. Lori gives Josh Ashleigh Redmon’s phone number. She is Josh’s age and goes to catholic school. He attempts to call her but, hangs up on her.
Kyle learns how to swim. He swims like a dolphin and is very fast under water. Amanda and Kyle have a conversation. She comments on Kyle not having a belly button and is not angry with Kyle. Amanda felt weird from his drawings of her but Kyle says he cannot draw her correctly and something is missing. She invites him over to her house.
Stephen is getting ready for a jog when Nicole comes in the bedroom to inform him that Detective Breen has not had any luck figuring out the security card. The logo does not match any known company. She also has reservations about sending Kyle to high school.
At Tom Foss’s apartment the employee who discharged him is waiting for Tom. There was a problem; the clearance code on the security key card did not match his assignment. The clearance did however, match Kern’s clearance. He also finds the files on Kyle that Tom stole from the juvenile detention facility.
Amanda brings out an art portfolio at her house to show Kyle her father’s artwork. He died a year ago and Kyle thinks that is what’s missing. They have a conversation about drawing what you feel and not just what you see in your head.
Kyle is back at his house and tries to draw a picture of what he feels using watercolors. Josh calls Ashleigh and they agree to meet at the party. Nicole convinces Lori to watch out for Josh at the party even though it is chaperoned. They have a conversation about Declan. Lori takes a condom with her to the party. Josh convinces Kyle to go to the party because Amanda will be there. Kyle wants to give her the drawing he just made. They all leave for the party but, Nicole is not happy that Stephen let Kyle go to the party too.
In Tom Foss’s apartment the company employee comes back again. Tom invites him in and while his back is turned towards Tom he snaps his neck. At the party Lori leaves Kyle and Josh to be with Declan. Ashleigh is there and she leads Josh to a hot tub where they go skinny dipping. Lori leads Declan to the backyard behind some bushes where she loses her virginity. Kyle is still waiting for Amanda when a drunken Hillary tries to seduce him. Josh and Ashleigh have a conversation in the hot tub and are about to make out when the chaperones appear.
Ashleigh quickly gets out but, Josh does not want to because he has an erection but, is forced to by Mr. Preston, one of the chaperones. Lori goes back to the party to discover drunken Hillary touching Kyle and gets upset as she throws Hillary off of him. Hillary tells Lori she told Declan to ask her out and she starts to cry. Hillary mocks her for losing her virginity so easily.
Nicole is still upset at Stephen for letting Kyle go to the party. He explains that Kyle needs to experience life and when Kyle needs them they will be there for him.
Kyle wanders through the house and finds Josh hiding in the bathroom. Declan defends Lori to one of his friends. Amanda finally shows up. As Kyle is about to give her the drawing he made for her a guy comes up and kisses Amanda. The guy is Amanda’s boyfriend Charlie. Kyle is visibly hurt by this. As Kyle, Josh and Lori leave the party Kyle drops the drawing into the swimming pool. The drawing is of Amanda in water.
