With the success of
Super Mario Galaxy, Nintendo has sold over 650,000 Wii units in two weeks, a record breaking number since the system's launch last November. Dealers around the world are desperate to stock more and players are in bidding wars on ebay for the system, which is sold out at most local retailers.
The supply in locations such as the UK is so scarce that players have resorted to asking friends from Germany ship units bought from amazon.de over. Suffice to say, the sale numbers would have been higher if the supply shortage wasn't an issue. The modest pricing ($250) may be to blame. More families are able to afford a Wii over the $600 dollar PS3.
