The latest word on the status of Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus comes from actor Christopher Plummer who says the director will try to save Ledger's last performance.

Plummer told People Magazine: "Fortunately, because the film deals with magic, there is a way, perhaps, of turning Heath into other people and then, using stills and I think they call it CGI."

One can hope that the fanciful script will allow Gilliam to preserve both the film and Ledger's performance. There are rumours that Johnny Depp has been approached to replace Ledger.

Plummer says that he believes that Ledger would have wanted the show to go on: "It's a rather fanciful script, and he was wonderful in this role."
