Hey.

So I'm off to New York City tomorrow to attend an advanced screening of Babylon AD, Vin Diesel's new futuristic Sci-Fi film. I've been looking forward to this one since seeing the trailer. Kind of Blade Runner meets Fifth Element.

It's my first time to New York; and it's my first solo film junket. I'm pretty excited about it, but - also nervous because I've been a huge Vin Diesel fan since seeing Pitch Black. I know that I might catch some flack for being a fan of Pitch Black, it wasn't a perfect film by any means.  It had some flaws, but I basically developed a man-crush on the character Riddick.

He's a killer with a heart of gold, and a mysterious past.  Mr.Vin did an excellent job of bringing Riddick to life with his almost robotic precision of movements and actions. You're meant to fear him, and at the same time know he's the only one who can save you from the monsters who are even scarier.

I'm also super pumped to meet the guy because he's a big D&D fan to the point of having a tattoo of "Melkor" the name of his character on his back. Apparently he's also big into World of Warcraft [I managed to quit about 8 months ago, and am fighting off urges to return to the game] so it seems like we have a bit in common at least on the gaming side.

I'm trying to get my gushing out now so I avoid it tomorrow. I do plan on giving him a copy of Carcassonne the board game I'm into these days. If you're a fan of table top gaming I highly recommend it, and am considering setting up a monthly Carcassonne game night in Toronto at a local pub. Let me know if there's any interest.

On another note, I'm really looking forward to Fan Expo and SFX. There are a lot of people I'm eager to interview, and I'm looking forward to the chance of getting some face to face viewer feedback (despite the fact that as of next Saturday I'll have only been on air here a few times.)

I've gone to FanExpo the past two years as a fan and I'm excited to now be on the other side of it (sort of I mean, I'm still a fan). I've got an autograph signing session though. Not sure how I feel about that, I guess I'll blog about it afterwards and explain.

Okay time to prep my questions for tomorrow and then home to bed. I've got to be up at 4:15 to catch my flight. Boo! but hey, I'm going to New York City to meet Vin Diesel. Should be an awesome day.
