It has been 4 years, 9 months and 5 days since I dove - head first - into the world of vinyl designer toy collecting. No stranger to toys of course, as I proudly own a fine collection of high-end collectibles and retro classic action figures from the 70s and 80s. But the warm glow from the world of vinyl designer toys was just too colorful to resist.
Looking at the black egg-shaped figure in my hand - whose name is Daruma - I realized that its picture on the package shows Daruma as a red egg-shaped figure. This is when the light bulb turned on in my head... 'Holy crap! I do have the ultra rare TADO figure! In fact, I have the lucky golden ticket!' BTW, this doesn't actually mean I won a free trip to see Willy Wonka at his chocolate factory. What it means is that after 4 years, 9 months, 5 days and many blind boxes later - the designer vinyl toy gods are finally smiling down at yours truly!
TADO themselves were also super excited as well, as they actually had never seen Daruma in its black version. So just when I thought it couldn't get any better TADO revealed to me that the egg shape is actually a matryoshka (aka a nesting doll). Wha-wha-wha-what!?! Holy triple crap! I'm not just a once, or twice but three times a lucky lady!
Oh and that black Daruma is 1 out of 800. So in other words for every 800 red ones blind boxed, there's only 1 black one:)
