This is an image of the Gruithuisen region on the moon as seen by the European Space Agency's SMART-1 spacecraft currently in orbit around the lunar surface. The shot was taken using the Advanced Moon Imaging Experiment instrument. A prominent feature is the bright bowl-shaped crater to the left, as well as the mountain range in the centre, known as Mons Gruithuisen. The shot was captured from an altitude of about 2154 kilometres, with a ground resolution of 195 metres/pixel.
