Studies of Hubble Space Telescope's deepest views of the heavens show an escalating rate of star birth just after the big bang.

According to scientists, the universe made a significant portion of its stars in a firestorm of star birth a few hundred million years after  the big bang.

Though stars continue to be born, the birth rate is a trickle compared to the predicted storm of star birth in the early years of the universe.
