The Silverado GalaxyAn intricate spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo.Wednesday, May 09, 2007 10:19NGC 3370, also known as the Silverado Galaxy, has intricate spiral arms with hot areas where new stars are forming. The young stars are in the bluer regions and the older stars in the yellowish core. The mass of NGC 3370 is estimated to be about the same as our own Milky Way galaxy.
During November 1994, the light of a supernova in Silverado reached Earth. The stellar outburst briefly outshone all of the tens of billions of other stars in its galaxy. :: Source |
